BOD refers to the characteristics of wastewater that represent the Oxygen levels required by bacteria and microorganisms to remove waste organic matter from the water, a process which results in emitting CH4 (Methane) or CO2 based on the treatment methods, both of which are Greenhouse gases. Therefore facilities are encouraged to monitor the BOD levels at regular intervals. Answering this question will help facilities to calculate their GHG emissions from the Biological Treatment of Wastewater.
