Greenhouse gases:
Greenhouse gases (GHGs) are gases in the Earth’s atmosphere that absorb/trap some of the Earth’s outgoing radiation, causing the atmosphere to warm up (called the ‘greenhouse effect’). This process is the main cause of the change in the earth’s climate, called ‘climate change’. Energy generation and use, transportation, use of refrigeration gases, and other activities produce greenhouse gas emissions that harm the environment.
GHG emissions are categorized into 3 different scopes:
Scope 1 Emissions: Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources.
Scope 2 Emissions: Indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy consumed.
Scope 3 Emissions: All other indirect emissions that occur in a company’s value chain.
Air Emission:
Emissions that result from industrial processes and manufacturing operations and have the potential to emit pollutants into the air.
Point source: Airflow that is actively controlled and directed (e.g., by fan and exhaust ducting) into the atmosphere from a single stationary fixed source such as a stack or vent. For Example: Boiler and ventilation system exhaust stack.
Mobile source: Mobile emission sources are those that are non-stationary sources of emission. For Example: forklifts, trucks, passenger vehicles, mobile cranes, or lifts.
Fugitive Source: Fugitive emission sources are those that are passively released into the outdoor environment and are not actively directed through a single exhaust point. For Example: screen printing, spot cleaning, or dyeing areas with only general ventilation
