The Adoption Tool helps users manage the adoption of the Higg Facility Modules (FEM & FSLM), the Higg Brand & Retail Module (BRM) and the Worldly Factory Data tool by their value chain partners.
The tool is designed to assist you with the tasks involved in managing Higg Index adoption efforts with your value chain partners, providing visibility to module completion progress, verification status, Worldly account data, and share request status. Access to this data in one place makes it easier to monitor adoption progress and allows you to better target your engagement with your value chain partners, ultimately helping you and your team achieve higher adoption rates.
Adoption Tool Dashboard
The first time you open the Adoption Tool, your dashboard will display a default cadence for Higg FEM, Higg FSLM*, and Higg BRM.
*Higg FSLM assessment cadences are rolling reporting cycles, so the dates can be set by your company. FEM and BRM assessments work on a set reporting timeline.
This is your dashboard view. From here, you get a high level view of the cadences that are available to track, as well as:
- Familiarize yourself with terms, statuses, and the general flow of the Adoption Tool (Select the Adoption Overview Details dropdown (top left corner)
- Know which of your suppliers do not have a Worldly account at a glance, based on the Not Started, In Progress, and Assessment Shared columns
To view a description of table fields, click on ? Adoption Overview Details (top left corner).
Add accounts to a cadence
After creating a new cadence, you will be asked to upload accounts. You can either manually search for individual accounts or upload an account list.
Manually Search for Individual Accounts
Use the search function to manually add accounts one by one to your cadence.
Upload Account List
Use the bulk upload feature in the Adoption Tool to upload up to 1,500 companies at the same time. This feature is used to add accounts to your cadence and send invitations in bulk.
Select the blue hyperlink in the screenshot "Download example-import-format.csv" to download a template for importing companies to the tool. Once the file is uploaded, the system will automatically send out a Share Request to all accounts added to the cadence.
1. Prepare Your List
Once you've downloaded the CSV file, you'll see a list of fields populating the first row. Each field corresponds to a specific account criteria used to search for account matches when the list is uploaded.
-
Worldly (Higg) ID - The shorter numeric string used as a unique identifier.
- Ex: 138382
-
Account ID - The longer alphanumeric string used as a unique identifier.
- Ex: 3b7027750db4d52e5079a…
TIP
Worldly (Higg) ID or Account ID are the two best ways to find a direct match to a Worldly account. If you know either of these, it is not necessary to include any other fields in the import file. Find these two IDs in previous Higg FEM pages by downloading the Performance CSV from your FEM modules page. This file will show details for accounts that have previously shared their module with you.
-
OAR ID - Formerly known as OS ID, this is a 15-character unique Open Supply Hub ID associated with facility accounts.
- Ex: CN2019067NZ95AM
- Custom Account ID - The custom ID for the matched record (if the account has one).
- Social Credit ID - A unique 18-digit national business registration number issued to all businesses and other entities in China.
- Tax ID - The unique company tax ID.
-
Email - Multiple email addresses are accepted, but must be separated by a semicolon.
- The system will look for matching Worldly account user email addresses.
- If you want to invite non-Worldly users to create an account on the Worldly platform, you must include their email address.
-
Location - For each record where the full address is unknown, try to be as specific as possible. If the street name is unknown, try to at least provide the City and Country.
- The system will look for Worldly accounts that have an address within a 100-meter radius of the location.
- Company Name - The system will search for the exact string provided. For example, if “Company, Inc.” is entered, it will look for that exact string and yield results that contain “Company, Inc.” You must manually review potential matches if an exact match is not found.
The sample CSV bulk upload file pictured below shows each row representing a different account.
- Rows 3, 4, 5 and 6 have either a Higg ID, Account ID, OAR ID, or Custom Account ID entered.
- Rows 2 and 7 have Emails, Location, and Company Name entered for these accounts because the ID is unknown.
2. Upload File
Once you've filled out the CSV file, select the red Select File button.
Next, select Upload File and open the desired file.
Note that the system will not accept CSV files that contain more than 1,500 records (rows of data). It is not mandatory to fill out every column in the spreadsheet with information, however, the more information you upload the higher chance there is of finding a match.
3. Map Fields
Once your data has been extracted, you'll be prompted to map fields with destination fields that exist inside Worldly.
Oftentimes it will be a 1:1 match:
Other times you will need to manually map the fields:
Once you've finished mapping the fields, select Continue.
4. Resolve Errors
Once the file is uploaded, you may have errors that are indicated by the red and yellow colored cells in the screenshot below:
There are two types of errors:
-
Hard Errors: Indicated by the red cells, these errors mean you cannot submit your data into the Worldly Facility matching process until these get resolved. For example, some common Hard Errors include format errors such as an invalid email address or date format, or duplicate entries resulting in the same entry in two different cells.
-
Soft Errors: Indicated by the yellow cells, these errors mean the inputted value presented is unexpected. You can either choose to fix or leave it. For example, a common Soft Error is when an unexpected value does not match to the other values in the column.
To resolve errors, hover over the red or yellow cell to understand what the error is. Depending on the validation error type, either change the input or delete the cell.
5. Leverage Transformations (Optional)
Select the Transform button to leverage the data transformation feature. This enables you to easily transform and clean large amounts of data quickly and effectively.
The Transform feature uses natural language commands (as opposed to coding languages) to transform data.
For example, you can move data from one column to another, change data formatting, delete values, etc.
Click on the bar "Describe how you would like to transform your data..." to show prompt ideas for how to transform your data. Examples include Extract, Combine, Transform, and Calculate.
6. Submit Data and View Upload Results
Once you're satisfied with your data upload, select Submit Data.
You'll know you've successfully submitted your data if you see this message pop up in the platform:
Once you submit your list, the system begins a data validation process and begins matching records from your list to existing Worldly accounts. The processing time is dependent on the size of the list, with larger lists taking a few minutes to load.
Once the evaluation process is complete, you will see a paginated list of results.
Reference your import file as you review the results.
-
Green check icon - Direct matches: The facility in your list matched on all the criteria you provided and the account shown below most likely the correct account for the facility.
-
Yellow question mark icon - Partial matches: The facility in your list matched on some, but not all the criteria you provided. For example maybe the Worldly ID and address match, but the company name that was provided doesn't match. We'll provide you with a list of potential matches to choose from based on the information you provided in your list. If you don't see a good option listed you can search manually or track as No Account.
-
Red X icon - No match: we were unable to locate an existing account with the information provided. This could be because the facility needs to create an account. You can search manually or track as No Account.
Use the toggle to filter between different match types:
Select which accounts to add to the cadence and which entries to Track as No Account. This allows you to preview and confirm the accuracy of account matches before adding them to the cadence.
Records that have No Matches will show as marked with a red x mark. These are accounts with no match found in the platform based on the CSV upload. To resolve this, you can either search directly or add these to the cadence by selecting Track as No Account.
Manually Adding Accounts to a Cadence
In a Cadence, navigate to ‘manage companies’ and then to the ‘search’ tab, to search for existing Worldly accounts to add to the cadence. You can use the account company name, Worldly ID, *OS ID, or Custom ID to look up individual accounts that you would like to add to your adoption cadence, so that you can start tracking their module progress. Click here for more information on OS IDs.
Step 1: In the Search box, enter a company name, Worldly ID (short or long version), OS ID, or Custom ID. This input will yield a list of match results for you to choose from.
The system will remember your last five search terms.
Step 2: Review the list of results, to find the correct account to add to the cadence.
Column Header Guide:
Column Header | Description |
Company | The account name of the matched Worldly account. |
Worldly ID | The Worldly ID (formerly Higg ID) for the matched record. |
Location | The full address on the account from the matched record. |
OS ID | The Open Supply Hub (OS Hub) ID is a unique identifier specific to facility-type accounts on worldly.io. Click here for more info on OS IDs. |
Custom ID | Custom IDs are your company’s internal IDs that you have previously assigned to Worldly accounts. |
Has Shared With Me | Indicates whether or not the matched record has shared the target module for this cadence with the cadence owner. |
Status | Indicates whether the matched record has the module selected for the cadence. |
Cadence | Indicates whether the matched record is in any other cadences for your account. |
Note: Only accounts that are deemed eligible can be selected to add. For example, a brand account is not eligible to be added to a Higg FEM or FSLM cadence. Additionally inactive accounts cannot be added and will not show up when you search for the account.
If an account already exists in the cadence, the selection box will be greyed out.
Immediately a module share request is sent from your account to the account you’ve added. Once the recipient reviews and accepts the share request, you will then be able to see the module data in your account’s FEM or FLSM module page. Regardless of module share status, you will be able to immediately see the completion status of each module you’ve added, from your adoption cadence dashboard.
Removing or Moving Incorrectly Matched Accounts
Remove an account.
From the Cadence Details page, scroll down to the table labeled Companies in Cadence. Search for the account you wish to remove, and once you find it, check the box to the left of the account. A blue bar will appear with actions, and you can select remove. You can also select multiple accounts either on the same page or across all pages to perform the action all at once.
Move an account.
On the bottom of each Cadence Details page, there is a table that displays a list of accounts in the cadence. Search for the account you wish to move using either Worldly ID or Account Name. Once you find it, check the box to the left of the account and click the blue Actions button. From the Actions dropdown, select Move to another cadence and click Apply. Follow the prompts to confirm the action.
If I remove accounts from a cadence, are they also removed from my account’s FEM modules page?
No, you will have to update that separately. If you remove an account from an adoption cadence and the account has not yet accepted your share request, you can go to your modules pages and cancel the share request (under Modules Requested). If the account has already accepted your module share request, you cannot remove it from your page.
Custom cadences
The custom cadence feature provides the flexibility needed to set up cadences that are different from the tool’s Default cadences and that reflect the account’s specific module tracking needs.
Here are some examples of cadence criteria:
- Module Type – manage separate cadences for Higg FEM completion, FEM Foundations completion, Higg FSLM completion, and Higg BRM completion.
- Verification – in the case that you require only a subset of your value chain partners to get their assessments verified and complete vFEM or vFSLM, you may want to create a new cadence for these accounts that is separate from the accounts that are only required to complete the self-assessment, without verification.
- Time – a set window of time in which a facility has to complete a specified module. You may have a need for multiple module onboarding dates and deadlines throughout the year. For example, create multiple Higg FSLM cadences with different end dates that reflect specific audit periods. Or set an early deadline for those value chain partners who’ve consistently completed FEM in previous years. You can also set separate dates for self-assessment and verification deadlines.
- Account Type – set up custom cadences based on different product categories or tiers. This would allow you to monitor module progress by group (i.e. Fabric mills, tier 1 suppliers, etc.)
- Location – customize cadences based on facility location (i.e. region or country).
How to create a custom cadence
-
From the main adoption tool dashboard, click the Add Cadence button to begin designing your cadence.
-
Enter cadence information (1)
- Select the module type (and year if selecting FEM or BRM)
- Decide if you wish to duplicate an existing cadence or create a new one.
- Duplicating a cadence will automatically upload the same accounts list from the cadence you select.
- If you want to create a full new cadence, leave “Select Cadence” selected and click next.
-
Enter cadence information (2)
- Then create a cadence name, add any notes or a cadence description, and set start and completion dates. You can set individual completion dates for the self-assessment and verification if needed.
- Enable automated email communications* if you wish. Please note if you turn the communications off the facility will still receive one communication from the platform notifying them you are tracking their module. *If you want facilities that do not have an account yet to receive an automated email inviting them to create a Worldly account, you have to select this option. You can always enable the email communication at a later point in time by editing the cadence settings, however, records with no account will not receive an automated email. If you want the automated email to be sent out to records with no account, the list needs to be re-uploaded to the cadence. For default cadences, the automated email communication is by default enabled.
- Save the cadence.
Now you are ready to add accounts to the cadence.

How do I access the Adoption Tool?
Accounts that are subscribed to either the Essentials, Expanded, Advanced, or Custom Worldly “All Access” subscription have access to the Adoption Tool. When a user logs in, they can navigate to the tool by selecting Adoption from their top navigation menu.
What does adoption mean?
Higg adoption refers to the use of Higg tools. Adopting the Higg Facility Tools (Foundations, FEM, FSLM) requires your manufacturing partners to accept use of the Higg facility modules by completing the self-assessments and sharing the results. Adopting the Higg Brand and Retail Tools (BRM Foundations, BRM) requires your brand partners to accept use of the Higg Brand modules by completing the self-assessments and sharing the results.
What is a cadence?
A cadence is a Higg module reporting period. On the Adoption Tool, a cadence is also a grouping mechanism defined by both Higg module type and time, that enables segmented tracking of Higg module completion across your value chain partners.
All users will see a set of default cadences on their Adoption Tool dashboard, one per module type. These default cadences align with the Cascale’s reporting period requirements. For example, the default cadences for Higg FEM will always have the Cascale’s self-assessment posting deadline of April 30th. These default cadences can be edited to change the start and end date, as well as the name. Once you add an account to a cadence, the account will receive an automatic share request from your account once they acquire the module. You will also immediately be able to view the Higg module completion status for that facility.
All users also have the ability to create multiple cadences per module, by using the Custom Cadence feature. Read more about Custom cadences here.
What are default cadences?
All users will see a set of default cadences on their Adoption Tool dashboard, one per module type. These default cadences align with Cascale’s reporting period requirements, but the cadence names and dates are editable. For example, the default cadences for Higg FEM will be named “Default Cadence (FEM YYYY) with a default cadence end date of April 30 (reflecting the Cascale’s self-assessment posting deadline). Once you add an account to a cadence, the account will receive an automatic share request from your account once they acquire the module. You will also immediately be able to view the Higg module completion status for that facility.
How does the tool help manage a cadence?
The tool gives you one place to quickly and easily view the completion and sharing status of modules by specified groups of facility accounts or brand accounts on the Worldly platform, throughout each module reporting period. Because the tool tracks real-time status of each module, it allows you to take timely action on the most current data. Additionally, inviting a facility or brand account to a cadence initiates an automatic module share request that is sent to the invitee’s account once they acquire the module.
