How to use Facility Data Manager (FDM) to get a head start on your Higg FEM video (1hr 10s)

Hello, and welcome to today's session. My name is Leah Jaggars, and I'm the senior education manager here at Worldly. Today, we're going to discuss how to use facility data manager or FDM to get a head start on your annual Higg FEM assessment. Before we get started, here are some logistics for the session. All attendees are muted for the duration of the webinar. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation, so as you have them, please submit them into the Q and A box so that they are captured. Any questions that I cannot get to during the session will be answered in a follow-up email, as long as they are submitted through the Q and A box. This session is being recorded, and I will share the recording with all registrants afterwards subtitled in multiple languages. We have simultaneous interpretation available in, Spanish and Turkish today, so please select your preferred language through the interpretation icon. There are also machine generated closed captions in English available through the CC icon. Here's the agenda for today. First, we'll have an overview of both tools, and then we'll discuss how they relate to each other and how they are different. We'll discuss the import features and how they work and additional resources available to you. Then we'll have a live demonstration and time for questions and answers that you submit during the session. With that, let's review both tools and how they relate to each other. And I'm actually going to, launch a quick poll. This will help me kind of orient the session. So if you don't mind, there should be a poll, on screen, and let me get the QR code just in case folks wanna use that. So it's just a quick three question poll. You know, have you done an FEM in the past? Have you used facility data manager before? And what is your biggest challenge in completing the Higg FEM assessment? So if you don't mind, just take a second. It's all anonymous, so it's just to help me orient, and be able to provide you with the best, session. So I'll give everybody a moment to answer that. So we're getting some responses. Looks like collecting data from different sources is kind of the winner of the biggest challenge. Some folks are new and but have done a lot of them. So let me end the poll. Thank you so much, and then I'll share the results, so you guys can see. So a lot of folks have done FEM before, but there's a handful of folks who are relatively new. Some people have used FDM, but most of you are not as familiar. And then collecting data from different sources is definitely the top the top frustration or or, challenge with Higg FEM. So thank you so much for, sharing. Alright. And let me pop back over to a presentation. There we go. Alright. So with that, let's review both tools and how they relate to each other. So first off, who is Worldly? We are your single source of environmental, social, and governance data. We offer robust datasets for brands and facilities on textile, apparel, and more. The most widely accepted facility assessments, high resolution, high frequency data collection tools, supply chain emissions tracking using product level data, and the largest library of material impacts available. We are also the exclusive host of Higg index tools, including the Higg FEM. We also developed the facility data manager or FDM. Now that you know a little bit about Worldly, now let's answer the question, who is Cascale? Cascale is the global nonprofit alliance catalyzing collective action towards equitable and restorative business practices in the consumer goods industry. Formerly known as the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, Cascale owns and develops the Higg index, including the Higg FEM. So let's talk more specifically about the Higg FEM. Now that we know a little bit about who Worldly and Cascale are, what is the Higg environment facility environmental module or Higg FEM? The Higg FEM is a transformative tool developed by our partners at Cascade used to assess the environmental impact of product manufacturing at facilities. The Higg FEM paints a clear picture of a facility's environmental impacts. Every stage of the production process is captured through this tool from water use to waste management to chemical and energy use. It not only uncovers hotspot areas for improvement, but also reduces redundancy, mitigates risk, and creates a common language to communicate sustainability to stakeholders. The Higg FEM covers the following topics, environmental management systems, energy use and greenhouse gas, water use, wastewater, air emissions, waste management, and chemical management. Within each section of the FEM, there are three levels. Level one contains questions around awareness and basic systems. Level two contains questions around baselines, targets, and improvements. And level three contains questions around leading aspirational practices. Please note that levels are not equally weighted. The Higg FEM weighs level two higher than the other levels because the questions in this level are driving key performance improvement measures such as setting targets and tracking reductions. Level one is worth twenty five percent out of total one hundred total section points. Unless the applicability questions stop you at level one, then the level one is worth one hundred percent of the hundred total section points. Level two is worth fifty percent of the hundred total section points, and level three is the remaining twenty five percent out of a hundred total section points. You can read the full scoring methodology on Cascale's website in the link that I'm sharing in the chat now. And don't worry. I'll be sharing all these links afterwards via email as well. The FEM follows a reporting schedule and timeline referred to as the FEM cadence. On screen is the FEM twenty twenty four cadence. For FEM twenty twenty four, the data in the assessment is for the twenty twenty four calendar year. Beginning in November, the FEM assessment opens and you can begin to input data. But posting is not available until January so that you have the complete data for the year. This general timeline will be the same for FEM twenty twenty five. Your supply chain partners may also have different requirements specific to their brand, so be aware and take note of any reporting requirements communicated to you. The Higg FEM is a combination of qualitative and quantitative data for a comprehensive overview of your environmental performance. Qualitative data in the FEM includes the environmental management systems and chemical management section along with qualitative questions in the other sections. Quantitative data includes numerical values for energy, water, waste, wastewater, and air emissions, and baselines and targets that you might have. So what do we really mean when we say quantitative and qualitative data? Quantitative data, we mean data captured as numbers like usage for energy, water, and waste that are typically tracked using meters, weighing, or via invoices or similar tools. This also includes baselines and targets that you track over time such as a three year target to reduce energy consumption by thirty percent. Qualitative data, on the other hand, means things such as your site information and permits data, your facility address, what type of facility it is, etcetera. It also includes your business practices, such as your environmental strategy, standard operating procedures, training plans, etcetera. Facility data manager covers quantitative data in the Higg FEM and allows you to set and share targets and baselines. Now that we understand the Higg FEM a little bit more, let's review the facility data manager or FDM. So what really is the facility data manager? Worldly's facility data manager helps facilities and brands track their impact on the environment easily and quickly by collecting monthly quantitative data. It allows you to collect and analyze this data, make informed decisions, and work towards reduction targets. This slide probably looks familiar. The facility data manager covers the quantitative data in the following topics, air emissions, water use, wastewater, energy use, and greenhouse gas emissions, and waste management. All of these sections, plus environmental management systems and chemical management are reported in the Higg FEM. Within the section, within the sections that you can report in FDM, there are additional qualitative questions in the FEM as well. Here is a summary of the differences between the tools. Higg FEM is an annual assessment of both qualitative and quantitative data. FDM is focused on monthly data It's also worth noting that the solution does not produce scores or track data based on levels like in the Higg FEM. This solution is focused on tracking quantitative data in real time so that you can see hot spots and drive progress at your organization. FDM is included with your Higg FEM, Higg FSLM, or both subscription so you don't need to pay extra to use this tool. In FDM, you can also track your energy in scope one and two targets and progress over time. It may help to think of Facility Data Manager as a part of the whole that is the Higg FEM. It's where you can track your quantitative data in real time and uncover and address hotspots actively so that you can make improvements. For example, if you begin to notice a sudden increase in your energy usage in FDM, you can make changes to address this before the end of the year so that it doesn't impact your annual FEM performance as much if it went unnoticed. The site information is also the same between the two tools and can be imported between both so that you don't need to enter it multiple times. You can use facility data manager to track baselines and targets for energy and scope one and two emissions. If you do so, this will enable you to answer yes to questions in level two in the energy section of the annual FEM assessment. Then at the end of the year, import your FDM data into FEM to save time completing the assessment. Here is an overview of the monthly FDM process. First, you will gather the utility data that you wish to submit for the reporting period. This can include bills for energy and water usage, wastewater reports, waste and refuse statements, reports on production volume and allocation, etcetera. Second, open facility data manager and select which data you wish to report and the reporting period. Third, input or double check your site information. This information rolls forward in subsequent submissions, so typically you only need to enter this for your first submission. And then fourth, enter your information for the reporting period and submit. To prepare for data submission, we recommend gathering your utility bills and other documentation prior to submitting in the Worldly platform. Please remember, when submitting data, each submission in FDM covers one calendar month. For instance, if you wish to report data for a quarter, you need to make three submissions, one for one for each month in that quarter. Additionally, we recommend coordinating data collection and submission schedules with your brand partners if applicable. Moreover, submissions from the facility needs to be shared with and accepted by a brand in order for the brand to access it. The system includes tools to help suppliers and brands easily handle the data sharing process. We'll discuss this further later on in the session. Here, you can see that you can submit data anytime from the center of the home page, selecting from the top of the navigation bar, or from the facility data manager dashboard. If you have previously submitted data, you will be prompted to roll forward your site information and share settings. You will select your reporting parameters, such as the reporting month, year, and operating days before entering your facility information. For the first data submission, the system needs basic details about your facility to customize the subsequent questions asked. For example, if you are a raw materials processing facility but do not work with finished goods, you will not be asked questions pertaining to finished goods processing. Or if you do not have company owned or controlled vehicles, you won't be asked about their fuel use. If you have an FEM twenty twenty three or twenty four, you can import the site information section to save time. Please note that this is only applicable to FEM twenty three or twenty four, also known as FEM four point zero, as previous FEM versions have a different design. Typically, the facility setup is a one time task unless your facility operations have changed. After that, each monthly submission focuses on the important quantitative data for the reporting period. If something does change about your facility operations, for example, if you add a new energy source like on-site solar or change the type of refrigerants you use at your facility, this can be updated at any time. Once you choose your reporting parameters, you will proceed with the submission. For instance, if you choose to report on water and energy, those sections will be open for data entry. As you answer questions, you might be asked more based on your responses. For example, if you say yes to using water for domestic purposes and are currently tracking it separately from production, you'll be asked to specify the volume. To get a head start on the FEM, we recommend reporting on all sections available. For any sections that did not have activity during the reporting period, for example, if you did not produce hazardous waste that month, you may input zero for that field. Each submission is for one month, and you may edit previous submissions if you need to add data. As with other assessments in the Worldly platform, there is guidance below the questions to provide additional context to help you understand how to answer. Also, you can upload attachments using the upload button in the upper right hand corner of the question box. You can find additional guidance on our support site as well. We are constantly adding new content to help you get the most out of the Worldly platform. After submitting data for the chosen reporting period, if you would have included production volume, you will be required to allocate it amongst customers that you share your data with. You can add new customers by clicking the plus customers link. If you did not produce for a particular customer that reporting period or you do not know yet, you can enter zero for that customer. Once you have submitted your data, if you allocated production to a brand partner, it will be shared with them. If you want to share your FDM data with a brand, partner generally, the system provides features for facilities and brands to easily manage the data sharing process. In order for the brand to access the data, facilities must first explicitly share their data with the selected brand. Then the brand will need to accept to view the data submission. To share a submission with a brand, go to the modules section, then click share modules in the upper right hand corner. Enter the company name, worldly ID, or FFC ID, etcetera to search for the brand. You can optionally add a message and submit. You can see all of your shared and received modules by using the navigation pane on the left hand side. Here's a yearly overview visualization. The Higg FEM captures all data for the reporting year, January through December, whereas FDM captures monthly data throughout the year. You can import twelve months of FDM data into your yearly FEM. We are currently in September. If you have not been using FDM already throughout this year, you can still backfill your data from the start of this year and then capture your monthly quantitative data moving forward through the end of the year. Please note that FDM is a monthly submission, so if you receive any utility bills on a different schedule, for example, quarterly, please take this into consideration and divide the values accordingly before entering the monthly values. If you get in the habit of submitting monthly data now, at the end of the reporting period, you will only need to import the quantitative data from FDM, double check the site information section, and then complete the qualitative questions to complete the FEM assessment. This can save you a ton of time especially if you add your reporting team to the platform so they can complete their specific sections of FDM. For example, you may add your accounts payable teammate that has the invoices for energy and water from the utility company and can input the information for those sections in FDM. It actively saves data, as data is entered and another user, for example, from the production team can enter the production volume at a later time. This way everyone can take ownership of their area and responsibility for managing the data they own. Once your facility has submitted data, you can visualize your data and progress over time on your facility dashboard. The first visualization you will see is a breakdown of your energy, water, and waste source usage for each facility type that you have submitted data for. The chart will show all of your customer data by default, but you can filter the chart to specific customers if desired. Facilities can manage all submissions from the modules section. Here, you can view prior submissions, update production volume allocation or update data, manage access and sharing, or export your data. You can select one or more submissions to download to a CSV. The CSVs are broken up into specific categories of data for faster downloads and readability. If you also aggregate data from other facilities or suppliers, you can also filter down the modules, filter down two modules shared with you using the section filters on the left. Facilities can set reduction targets in FDM and take advantage of tracking features to help manage, track, and share progress. To create a new target, you will click on set target in the upper right hand corner of the FDM dashboard. This will take you to a new page where you can enter your target parameters, such as the measurement type, baseline, target year, etcetera, and submit. Facilities manage their own targets, and brands cannot set or edit facility targets on behalf of the facility. Facilities can set up and track one or more targets. Energy and scope one and two emissions are the first supported target categories, but more options to come in future updates. The reduction target submission form contains all of the necessary information to set up an energy target. Most facilities will have one facility type for which they can set targets. If a facility has two to seven facility types, for example, such as in a vertically integrated facility, within their submitted data, they can set up a target for each individual facility type. The target area's options reflect how you can track your usage data in the facility data submission form. For example, production, domestic, and vehicle energy use or emissions. When setting a target, you will choose which target area best suits your needs and the data that you have submitted. Once the target has been submitted, there will be a new target page that visualizes the target and compares to the FDM data submitted so far. All relevant information for the target will be highlighted on the page. The target reduction goal will be shown in green, while the baseline amount will be shown in purple within the visualization. These will help you track your progress towards your goals. As the facility submits new data specific to the source being tracked, the visualization will update to highlight the newly submitted data. The target pages are accessible from the facility dashboard. Each target will have its own individual box underneath the chart. To view a specific target, click on the target box to view more details. These targets allow you to answer yes to tracking baseline and targets in the energy section of the FEM. So this is helpful to start early so that you can be proactive about your performance. Now that we've reviewed FDM and FEM generally, let's discuss what you can import between the tools and how. Here's an overview of the data that is available to import. You may import your site information from past FEM assessments to get a head start on FDM and will also be able to import FDM site information into FEM twenty twenty five. Facility data manager can cover up to one hundred percent of level one quantitative questions in the FEM. Please note that this depends on the data that you have input into FDM. Because of this we recommend tracking all sections available so that you will have less to input at the end of the reporting cycle. For example, you may import your numerical values for purchased electricity consumption or water use. Like we've discussed, FDM does not include qualitative data such as environmental policies and procedures, water management system documentation, etcetera, that are included in the FEM. The import does include attachments associated with the questions so that you have easy access to these files for review before submitting your FEM. Before you import your data, here are a few questions that you should be able to answer yes to before importing. The first question to ask is, do I have twelve months of FDM submissions? The FEM is an annual assessment, so twelve months of data is required if you want to import. Second, do all of the sections I want to import have twelve submissions? For example, if you submitted energy data for all twelve months but water only for ten months, you would not be able to import the water section data until the missing two months of data are added. Next, do all the sources I want to input import have values for all twelve submissions? The sources are going to be things like purchased electricity or liquid natural gas for energy or municipal blue water or gray water for water sources. If a source is not tracked in a monthly submission, the system will not import data for that source. Don't forget you may enter zero if there is no usage for that particular source that month. And then lastly, if I want to import validated data only, do I have all twelve submissions validated? You can import non validated data, but if you only want to import validated data, you will also need to have twelve months of validated submissions. I'm sharing I'm sharing this, checklist help article in the chat for your reference as well. Now let's review some frequently asked questions so that you can feel confident in your understanding of the feature. What happens if I don't have twelve submissions in FDM? If this happens, the message you see on the screen will display letting you know that you are missing months in your FDM data and provide links to the submissions where you can edit and submit your data. This appears for each section, so we recommend checking all the sections first to see which submissions need updating. What happens if I edit an FDM submission after importing data into FEM? If this happens, the message you see on screen will display letting you know that the data was updated since the last time you imported with the option to import again. You can import again to update values, or if you are waiting till validation is complete, you can import the validated values later. Why is my unit of measure different in FEM compared to FDM? For some fields, the value is converted to a common unit so that the value can be standardized for the annual assessment. For example, if you typically track energy consumption for your purchased electricity in kilowatt hours in FDM this will be converted to megajoules for FEM. The system performs this conversion automatically, but please note this difference when reviewing the imported data for accuracy. Now let's review some additional resources for this feature as well as for FEM and FDM. We have resources available in a variety of locations and mediums to help you use the Worldly platform successfully. Now let's see, both Higg FEM and FDM and how they work together. And let me pop out of this. Alright. So what you're seeing on screen is the Worldly dashboard. When you first log in, if you aren't familiar, you can translate the platform into various languages using this little, world icon. Right next to that is the question mark icon. This is where all of our support information lives. So the help center is where our written documentation lives. There's also short videos, webinar recordings, as well as just, like, step by step instructions. The learning center is that e learning platform that you have access to. If it's your very first time accessing the learning center, you just click on this and then it will prompt you to log in. Just enter your worldly credentials and then you'll be able to log in. You can also chat with our support team or the chatbot, or you can submit a support request if you're having technical issues. Across the top are all of your different sections. This may look a little bit differently to you depending on your subscription. So a couple things to note: I am currently in what's called a staging environment. What this means is that this is not, a live account and so all I mean by that is that the data that we put in here is kind of fake. So, if anything looks a little weird or anything like that, it's just because we put in, fake data for demonstration purposes. Also, if there's anything different here that, doesn't look the same, it's likely because our developers are developing in this environment. I'll be sure to point anything out that looks a little bit differently, to you if if, we come across that. Alright. So the first thing to know is that your FEM assessment is gonna be under assessments. Right now the twenty twenty four, assessment is available. In November, you will be able to, purchase and begin your twenty twenty five assessment. So you can't quite do that quite yet, but just know that that is coming soon. And then facility data manager is over here on the right hand side. So if you wanted to go into straight submit data right here, you can, or you can also access facility data manager in the top, through here. So submissions, network, segments, and campaigns are more relevant if you are aggregating data. So for today's purposes, we're going to be predominantly talking about submitting data as a facility. I'll touch on some of these features, but just know that that's not the primary focus of today's session. And then, also you can access your assessments, so your Higg FEM assessment here. So, for example, I'm gonna pop into my FEM assessment just to kind of take a look, and show you what that looks like. So when you click on there, typically it'll take you directly. I actually have a deleted assessment because this is staging, so typically, you don't have to do the secondary click. But for my account, I do. So once you enter your assessment, if you haven't started it, this would just say not started. And you have a few different actions that you can do on the left. So you can view or edit, you can share the assessment, or you can submit and post the assessment. You can also download your data. I'm gonna go ahead and view edit. I'm not going to actually enter an FEM, just for the sake of time, but I have a previously entered one that we can take a look at, and just see what type of data I'm talking about when I say, you know, quantitative versus qualitative. And sometimes staging takes a second. So let's see if we can get this working. And if not, there we go. So alright. So I am in my Higg FEM. One of the things that might look familiar to you is this little facility data import. So as soon as you use facility data manager, within FEM this will be an option and it will kind of just give you a breakdown of hey you're missing some information for a particular month and it does that for each of the sections. So these are all the sections in FEM. This isn't a deep dive into FEM so we won't go into every single section but your site info and permit sections all the basic information like where you're located, what type of products you make, etc. The EMS is your environmental management systems, section, and you'll notice there's not an option to import for this section because this is not captured in facility data manager. So that's kind of the difference is that this is saying, hey. Who are all the people that work at EMS? You know, what are your current, you know, documentation, etcetera. So, that's kind of the reason you don't see that as an option to import because it's not captured in facility data manager. However, if we pop over to a section that does have quantitative data, we can see, the same kind of notice that we saw on the site info permit section, and it just says, hey, you're missing data for this particular month. It shows you how many months you have submitted and then how many months are validated. Validation, it generally is optional, unless your brand, partners are requiring it. So that'll just it's just there for informational purposes. But if you're like, oh, jeez. I I definitely have the data for that. You can always access facility data manager directly by clicking this add data section. We'll do that in just a moment. But to give you an idea of the quantitative data that you might see within FDM and how that corresponds to FEM, first, it's asking you about, sources. But as we get into actual values, for example, how many megawatt hours did you purchase and retire in the reporting year, because I'm saying that I use EACs, that's one option. And then as we get into actual tracking of sources this might look familiar to you if you've ever seen the information in FDM. So this section where it's like hey how much energy did you use this is what you're going to see in FDM and that's going to be the same for like water, wastewater, air emissions. It's all really the things around just pure usage, you know, what are the values for that. So hopefully that gives you an idea of FEM and how the information corresponds. Again, I can come back to this if we need to, but hopefully that gives you kind of that initial idea. For FEM, once you are done you post the assessment, but let's go ahead and scroll up to where it was letting us know that we're missing data and see what happens. So if I click add data, it's gonna pop me over to facility data manager and to the open submission. I can always go to a different submission here, and I can view edit, share assessment, submitter post, or select a validation body if I want to. So this screen is very, very similar for a facility data manager. You can also go into the actual submission and modify there. I'm gonna go ahead and just pop over to the facility data manager dashboard, though. So here, I have submitted a bunch of data in this account so you can kind of see that over time. I can go ahead and submit new data by clicking here. There's also any notices if you, you know, if anything's changed, it'll let you know. I'll get into these charts in just a moment, but let's go ahead and submit data. Alright. So I'm currently in January. If I select twenty twenty four, because I already have a submission for that month, it will prompt me. So it'll be like, hey. You already have this submission. Go ahead and edit that submission. So in this case, this is actually what I would want to do because I'm missing data for that January month. If you are missing data and it is already posted, you can always reopen or unpost the FDM submission if needed. So So I'll just go ahead and do that, and that will allow you to edit it again. So now I'm gonna go ahead and click view edit. If this were a brand new submission, you would see similar, options, but I'll just kind of go through this. So you choose your reporting month and year. You can go back in time. So if you wanna track, older data, you may. Then you input your, operating days and then the sections that you want to report. So if I click edit here, here are all of the different sections. For the purposes of FEM, I would recommend you, submit all of the sections available. The reason for that is that you have to have those twelve months of submissions, in order to import them. So if you aren't tracking your waste disposal, for example, that you would have to just do manually during the annual assessment. Whereas if you track all of these each month, then you don't have to worry about that at the end of the month. And you might be like, I don't really have, you know, a bunch of air emissions stuff throughout the year, so that I'll show you what that looks like, but it's pretty minimal and it's really asking about your refrigerants. So best practice for being able to import your data into FEM would be to select all of the sections that are available to report. Alright. Then once you're done with the reporting details, it will take you to the site info section. Again, if you have completed FDM or FEM in the past, you will be able to import this and then you don't have to even worry about it. You can just import it and then you're done. And if anything changes over time, you can always get in here and change it. But generally speaking, think of this like your facility profile. That information doesn't change too much over time. So that's why, you know, it's supported in both systems, and you can import between them. Alright. So let's go ahead and go to production volume. Production volume is not something that's required to report. However, it's very helpful especially for the visualizations, to show you how much of an impact one of your customers is having on your performance. So for example, I'll say, you know, we had, a hundred thousand pieces in pairs. One thing that folks ask about is why is this unit of measure like this? The unit of measure is determined based on the type of, facility you indicated. So this is a finished product assembler facility, whereas the, you know, if you were a raw material processing facility, this would be in kilograms, for example. You can always also track a different unit of measure if you would like. Here you can also upload your documentation, if you would like to have that available. And for production volume, it's just that and then the number of full time employees and temporary employees at your facility. In the energy section, so all of our work, that we did in the site info section to say what types of energy sources we have, etcetera are going to display here. So your view may look a little different depending on how you answer the site section. So in my example, I do track my domestic energy use separately so that's why it's separated out and I use purchased electricity and on-site solar as my energy sources. So that has been determined based on how you answered the site info section. So when it comes to your month to month submissions, you would just come in here and say did I use this source this month yes or no and then enter the quantity. You can always upload your files and go from there. And then I've also indicated that I do have on-site vehicles and that we use petrol for those. So, again, I just want to emphasize that all of this is basically filtered based on how you answered your site info section. So if you do have your GHG FEM and nothing's changed in that, you should be able to import that and then this will be pretty easy to fill out you just enter your quantitative values. Same goes for water so same sort of concept, you know this is based on what I answered in the site info section, and that I chose water as a reporting section. One thing to note is that, you know, if for some reason, you know, maybe you have a bunch of different water sources here, you know, like rainwater or what have you, if you didn't use that particular source for that period, you can always put zero. So it's not required that you enter an actual, usage if that doesn't apply, so just keep that in mind. That in particular is probably gonna come up during waste. So for the waste section, generally speaking, you've indicated what type of waste you produce in the site info section, and then here is where you can enter the actual values. So let's say this is cotton waste, and we produced, you know, fifteen kilos. We weighed it, and it was upcycled. Right. So you just choose kind of the different options there, and then, you know, put in, some information there. So, however, if you're like, oh, you know, we didn't have this, probably wouldn't actually happen right for trash, but let's just pretend for our intents and purposes today. And you may notice there's also an estimates section, so if you don't actually like weigh your waste or what have you, but you know, okay. We got rid of, like, four dumpsters worth, and each dumpster weighs approximately, you know, x amount, you may use estimates. So we'll just select that. Since we're entering zero, it doesn't totally matter, and we'll just put that. So, it's pretty simple to enter everything. It's just, you know, entering the numerical values. And in instances where you didn't have a particular use of that, you can always enter zero. And waste is where you can track non hazardous and hazardous waste. And then air emissions, in my case, I actually have not input, that I have, like, air emissions needs to report. So I'll go ahead and remove that right now. But if you do, and I can kind of go to the air section, so there's a few sections about like your site or your, permits, but the air emission section is really boiling down to, like, does your facility use, refrigerants? So I'm gonna go ahead and say yes so that we get something to fill out for that section. So let's just say that we use, r twenty two, which isn't ideal, but that's what we use. And then if I go into the reporting details, I can add that back. And now if we go to that section, I'll be able to actually input information. There we go. So see how that worked where I didn't have in the site information section that I even used refrigerants or anything. So I was like, hey. You don't really have any questions to answer around air emissions. But once I updated that information, now I have that option. So that goes for every single section, where you can, you know, if you've updated something, you can always then go in and input, that information if you made a mistake. Also, in this case, let's say that I didn't have any emissions specifically around this. I didn't refill anything, I can just say no, and that way I still have a monthly submission for air emissions so that the FEM knows I'm not missing data, but I didn't actually have any values for that particular month. On the other hand, if I say yes, then I can input, you know, oh, we put in, you know, three kilos of refrigerants, and, you know, it can be like calculated usage or measured or what have you. So hopefully that's giving you an idea of how this works so for each of these sections you'll go ahead and input your quantitative data and again it's pretty basic and then once you're done and everything says one hundred percent then you can submit your facility data. It does have a data check. So if your values, you know, maybe you put an extra zero on something that doesn't quite work or, you know, you put in, like, a trillion water usage or something like that, it's double checking that, everything looks reasonable and if it doesn't it'll let you know, and then you can, submit and then you'll put in a post module and then submit. Here, because I decided to report on production allocation, this is where I can allocate, production to my customers. If, for example, I have a new customer, and let's just look for, you know, this brand. And let's say that I actually only had ten thousand there and five thousand here. So you can always adjust your customers. You don't have to enter this. So if you don't choose to report on production volume, this won't show up for you, but if you did choose to report on it, then this will be available. The folks that you add here, you can also share your data with as well. If you don't yet know, for example, you know that you're going to get an order from them, but you don't yet know at this point in time, you can put in zero, and then that will have a partially allocated value. I'm gonna go ahead and save those allocations. Because I added a new customer, it's just confirming that I want to share my data with them. So I'm gonna go ahead, say yes, and save and send. Alright. So now we see all of the data here. Across the top, you can go back in time. So if you do have some of that past data entered, you can always go back to see more or go forward. At the top, you'll have the option to select from your facility types. In this case, I'm only one type of facility, so I only have one option. But if you did have multiple, that would be a drop down. You can also filter between, your different customers. So for example, I'm seeing all of my usage data now for all of the different energy sources, but let's say I want to see how this particular customer is impacting everything. Okay great, I can see I don't actually have production volume allocated for a period of time. So if I was going to, you know, meet with my customer or something like that and wanted to discuss, I can always break this down and just see exactly, you know, where the usage is coming from, and, etcetera. So, hopefully, that gives you an idea. Please note that brands, when you share your data with them, they are not able to, do this sort of filtering. So they're only seeing their own data that you've said is allocated to them. You also have different charts here. So you've got your energy chart, your water chart, option for waste withdrawal as well as discharge, waste for both hazardous and nonhazardous, and greenhouse gas emissions. And then lastly, you can also set targets. So I've set some targets in the past, but let's go ahead and just set a new target. And let's say that we want to set our, scope one and two emissions. You have options to set for all energy usage or for specific types of energy. So for example, you might want your purchased renewables to go up and your purchased electricity to go down, for example, and then you select your measurement type, enter your baseline information, your target information if you want that target to go up or down, and then save. And if we go back to our dashboard, let's take a look at one of these. Alright. So this, I don't have all my, data submitted for January or for, twenty twenty four. So, we're not seeing that kind of chart right now, but this is kind of what you'll see. It'll give you, where your baseline is and how your target should progress and set it for how many years out that you set it. So you should see your kind of progress over time. Let's see if I can find one that has more data. Just do the all energy so you can at least see how that goes. There we go. So, you know, I might look at this and go, oh, I need to enter some of my twenty twenty four data to get a better understanding. So yeah. And by setting targets, then within the HIG FEM in the level two questions, you can say, yep. I do set baselines and targets. Here are my values. You can use these as a reference, etcetera. So hopefully that all makes sense. In the last few minutes though I want to make sure that we get to questions, so let me go ahead and pop over to that. So the first question is to what extent does is the FDM suitable for furniture production facilities? Yeah. That's a great question. So because FDM focuses on quantitative values around energy use, water, wastewater, etcetera, it's pretty agnostic to the type of thing that you make. I would say for example furniture is pretty similar in that it's like a hard good, right, you have, similar things. The one thing that may not necessarily kind of fall under FDM, auspices would be things like maybe food production or where you're like farming and there's like land use issues, but as far as like production, all of the data is, you know, things that really any site will deal with like energy, water, wastewater, etcetera. So within your site information section for a furniture company, you would probably select a different option here, and then and then go from there. So hopefully that, helps to answer your question. The next question is, do you have to eliminate the unanswered questions to advance in the next month? No. So that's speaking to this little unanswered section. So it depends on what you mean by that. You do have to have each of the sections at one hundred percent. So what that means for each individual location is going to be a little bit different. So again that's all going to be based on your site info section and the reporting parameters that you selected. So as long as your different segments here are at one hundred percent then you can submit. So you'll notice you know it's filtered to unanswered but it's just showing me the handful here. Unlike Higg FEM, the, FDM is just not nearly as lengthy. So, typically, you can kind of see exactly what's unanswered, and it's gonna highlight those, for you as well. Alright. And then, the next question is around how can we change baseline? So I think you're speaking to, like, these targets. So, for example, if you were like, oh, we set our baseline kind of artificially low or artificially high or, you know, here, I'm not really seeing that my baseline is aligning with my data. If you have an existing target, you can go into manage here and then click edit. And then here is where you can edit that baseline. Generally speaking, though, you can have multiple versions of a target. So if you are tracking against one baseline, but you are like, oh, things have really rapidly changed, and I want to see what our new baseline is, you can definitely keep your old target and then create a new one, if you didn't want to edit it. But that's really up to you and your preferences. So here, you would just enter the quantity and then the year that you want to track from. And then once you save it, then that would appear on the target. Alright. And the last question is, how do you advance from one month to the next? That's an excellent question. So here, you can flip between the charting. But if you go into submit data, there's this little open submission here. This is showing me all of the different submissions I've submitted in the past. And, again, if I choose one that I have, data for already, so let's say I chose February twenty twenty four, It's gonna say, hey. You already have data. So you can go back and edit that. Or if you wanted to go look at something, you can click here. Or if you, at the top of the page, there's this module section. So if you just wanna see all of the submissions oh, and I started editing it, so it had to save. But if you wanna see all of your submissions and be able to kind of, you know, tag them or see, oh, shoot. I didn't, you know, assign full production volume, you can go to your modules section and then you'll see all of the modules here. If you filter on the left hand side there's my modules or you can filter to those shared with you. So if you are aggregating data from others, you can also view that here as well. And it's all broken down by month and year and gives you all that information there. You can also go here and then go view overview or view assessment if you want to dive into one of those.
