Environmental Baseline Metric Definitions
Total FEM Score
The facility's total FEM score. When your view includes more than one facility, the card shows the average of their total scores.
Tip: Use the Total FEM Score as a first check of overall facility performance. Do not base decisions on the score alone, because the score does not show which solutions a facility needs. The same applies to section scores.
How it is calculated: The average of the total FEM scores of the facilities in your view.
FEM EMS Score
The facility's score on the EMS section of the FEM.
How it is calculated: The average of the EMS section scores of the facilities in your view.
FEM Energy Score
The facility's score on the Energy section of the FEM.
How it is calculated: The average of the Energy section scores of the facilities in your view.
FEM Water Score
The facility's score on the Water section of the FEM.
How it is calculated: The average of the Water section scores of the facilities in your view.
FEM Wastewater Score
The facility's score on the Wastewater section of the FEM.
How it is calculated: The average of the Wastewater section scores of the facilities in your view.
FEM Air Emissions Score
The facility's score on the Air Emissions section of the FEM.

Audit Person Days
The number of audit person days a facility spent on environmental assessments or audits in addition to the Higg FEM. One audit day is one day for one auditor.
Tip: Use Audit Person Days to see how much time a facility spends on auditor visits. A higher number means a greater risk of audit fatigue.
How it is calculated: The average across the facilities in your view that reported an additional assessment or audit. Facilities that did not report one are left out.
Number of Additional Assessments/Audits
The number of environmental assessments or audits a facility had in addition to the Higg FEM.
Tip: Use this number to check for audit fatigue and to find audits that duplicate each other.
How it is calculated: The average across the facilities in your view.
Operating Days
The number of days a facility operated in the reporting year.
Tip: Use Operating Days to find facilities with unusual operating conditions. A very high number can point to a risk of overwork. Consider operating days when you read impact data such as water and energy use.
How it is calculated: The average across the facilities in your view.
Full Time Employees
The number of full-time employees at a facility.
How it is calculated: The average across the facilities in your view.
Part Time Employees
The number of part-time employees at a facility.
How it is calculated: The average across the facilities in your view.
