KPIs
Total Non-hazardous Waste
The total amount of non-hazardous waste (in kg) from all assessments in this year that have been shared with you.
Tip
This metric can be used to understand the amount of non-hazardous waste generated. When filters are applied you can compare waste amounts by location, facility type, industry sector or other criteria to identify opportunities for waste reduction.
Formula
sum(nonhazardous_waste)
-
Add up the total kilograms of nonhazardous waste, including:
- Metal non-hazardous waste
- Plastic non-hazardous waste
- Paper non-hazardous waste
- Cans non-hazardous waste
- Cartons non-hazardous waste
- Domestic Total non-hazardous waste
- Foams non-hazardous waste
- Food non-hazardous waste
- General or unspecified non-hazardous waste
- Glass non-hazardous waste
- Leather non-hazardous waste
- Other non-hazardous waste
- Pre-water treatment sludge non-hazardous waste
- Rubber non-hazardous waste
- Slag non-hazardous waste
- Textile non-hazardous waste
- Total nonhazardous waste materials
- Total waste materials
- Wood non-hazardous waste
Total Hazardous Waste
The total amount of hazardous waste (in kg) from all assessments in this year that have been shared with you.
Tip
This metric can be used to understand the amount of hazardous waste generated and identify opportunities to reduce or improve the management of hazardous waste.
Formula
sum (hazardous_waste)
-
Add up the total kilograms of hazardous waste, including:
- Batteries hazardous waste - Domestic
- Coal combustion residuals (fly ash and bottom ash/coal slag) hazardous waste - Domestic
- Compressed gas cylinders (refrigerants, etc.) hazardous waste - Production
- Contaminated materials hazardous waste - Production
- Electronic Waste hazardous waste - Domestic
- Empty chemical drums and containers (without proper cleaning) hazardous waste - Production
- Empty containers (cleaning, sanitizing, pesticides, etc.) hazardous waste - Domestic
- Expired/unused/used chemicals (waste oil, solvents, reactants, etc.) hazardous waste - Production
- Film and Printing Frame hazardous waste - Production
- Fluorescent light bulb hazardous waste - Domestic
- Ink cartridges hazardous waste - Domestic
- Metal Sludge hazardous waste
- Other hazardous waste
- Pre-water Treatment Sludge hazardous waste - Production
- Slag hazardous waste
- Waste oil and grease (from cooking) hazardous waste - Domestic
- Waste oil and grease (from production, maintenance, etc. - not cooking) hazardous waste - Production
Total Waste Produced
The total amount of waste (in kg) from all assessments in this year that have been shared with you.
Tip
This metric can be used to understand total waste outputs.
Formula
sum(wstsourcetotal)
- The sum of total waste in kilograms
Fabric Waste Intensity Pc-Pair
Kilograms of fabric waste normalized by piece or pair produced.
Tip
This metric can be used to contextualize waste generation on a per-piece or -pair basis. This metric only includes facilities that have identified themselves as finished product assemblers and/or finished product processors.
Formula
${wstsourcenhtextiletotal} / NULLIF(${finalProductAssemblytotal}, 0)
- Divide the textile non-hazardous waste in kilograms by the finished product assembler’s annual production volume quantity, unless the total product amount is zero.
Average FEM Waste Score
The average of total water scores across all facilities.
Tip
This can be used as an initial evaluation of waste management practices in facilities.
Formula
average(total_waste_score)
- The average of all waste section scores.
